The Digital Dinos are West Bloomfield Middle School's STEAM robotics team — designing, building, and coding robots that compete at the highest level.

Two people working with a robot or mechanical device on a table at an industrial or technical event. There are colorful tape markings on the floor and a set of purple and yellow wheels or gears on the side of the device.
A small robot built with metal parts, wires, and electronic components on a gray floor, with a blue and maroon background.

OUR ROBOT

Our student-led team designed, built, and coded our robot “Baby Bop Bot” entirely from the ground up — many parts sourced from our own scrap shop.

  • Drive System: 4 omnidirectional wheels for full "crab walking" mobility in any direction

  • Shooter: 3 Rhino wheels spinning at 6,000 RPM powered by a Gobuilda motor

  • Controls: 1 control hub, 1 expansion hub, 7 motors, 2 servos

  • Code: Java via Android Studio + GitHub collaboration workflow

  • Auto-Aim: FTC Robot Controller SDK AprilTag detector for angle-to-zero targeting

  • Data Logging: Real-time shooter velocity graphing with scatter-plot velocity tuning

  • 3D Printed: Custom battery box, wheel guards, and power switch guard via Onshape

A group of ten children, wearing blue 'Digital Dinos' team shirts, are posing together at a robotics or STEM event. They are smiling, with some wearing safety goggles or dinosaur hats. The background features a white curtain with a colorful geometric logo. The children appear to be celebrating a victory or achievement.

THE ROAD TO SUCCESS
